Mobile DPF, DEF & Regen Diagnostics and Repair for Semi Trucks
A failed regen, a DEF warning or a sudden derate can stop a load in its tracks. Basta Motors comes to your truck, day or night, at a yard, a lot or the roadside, anywhere from Santa Clarita and the I-5 / Grapevine to Palmdale, Lancaster and the San Fernando Valley. We find out why the aftertreatment system is acting up and fix it.
You deal directly with Alex, the owner and the tech who works on your truck, with dealer-level diagnostic software on the laptop.
Symptoms and problems we cover
- DPF lamp on, or regens that fail, won’t start or keep getting interrupted
- Regens far more often than normal, or soot load that climbs fast
- DEF warnings, DEF quality or dosing codes, and DEF messages that don’t clear
- SCR efficiency codes and NOx sensor faults
- EGR faults: valve, cooler and EGR-related sensor codes
- Aftertreatment sensors and wiring: DPF pressure, exhaust temperature and NOx sensors, connectors
- Reduced power, derate countdowns and speed limits linked to aftertreatment faults
- Running a forced or parked regen when the truck needs one
Why regens fail and trucks derate
The DPF traps soot and burns it off during a regen, either on its own at highway load, as an active regen, or as a parked regen the truck asks for. A regen can fail because the exhaust never gets hot enough (idling, short runs), a sensor reads wrong, regen fuel dosing isn’t working, or an injector, turbo or EGR problem upstream is making more soot than the filter can handle.
On the DEF / SCR side, a bad NOx sensor, poor DEF quality, a dosing problem or a wiring fault can all set the same efficiency code. Many of these faults trigger a programmed derate: the derate is the result, not the cause.
How the mobile diagnosis works
- Call or text. Location, dash messages and fault codes. Arrival time, diagnostic scope and travel charge are confirmed before dispatch.
- Read the history. We connect the diagnostic software and pull active and inactive codes and the conditions when they set.
- Check live data and test. We check live data and test the system before anyone replaces parts. When the location is safe for it, we can run a forced or parked regen.
- Explain and repair. You get a clear answer on what failed. We repair it on site whenever parts and site access allow. If the DPF needs cleaning or replacement, or the job needs a shop, we help line it up with a trusted partner.
What to have ready when you call or text
- Exact location: yard or business name and cross streets, or freeway, direction and nearest exit
- Unit number, and year / make / engine or VIN
- Dash lamps and messages, including any derate or speed limit
- Active fault codes (a photo of the dash screen works)
- Any recent work: a new sensor, a DPF cleaning, a DEF fill
- For fleets: the driver’s phone number and the billing contact
FAQ
Can you run a forced or parked regen at my location?
Yes, with dealer-level software, as long as the spot is safe for the heat a regen produces. If a regen won’t complete, that’s a clue, and we find out why. If the DPF needs cleaning or replacement, we’ll tell you and help line it up.
Why does my truck need regens so often?
Usually lots of idling and short runs, a sensor giving the engine bad information, or an engine-side problem making extra soot. Repeated forced regens without finding the cause just postpone the problem.
Will clearing the codes get rid of the derate?
Not for long. If the fault is still there, the system sees it again and the derate comes back. The fix is repairing the cause.
Could the DEF itself be the problem?
It can be. Contaminated or diluted DEF can set quality codes and cause dosing problems, so it’s worth checking along with the doser, NOx sensors and wiring.
